Only for the second and third week of the month. Still a good deal though. Questions, anyone?
Free fuel, now that’s something we thought we’d never hear. But apparently that’s what Putrajaya residents with motorcycles (only 150cc and below) get to enjoy. For twice a month.
This initiative was introduced by a Putrajaya UMNO Youth (hmm…) and announced by Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor who elaborated that the programme will be implemented every second and third week of the month. The reason is to reduce the financial burden of residents, particularly for the younger generation.
Tengku Adnan explained it is an extension of the effort carried out since last month in Labuan and Kuala Lumpur. He described it as receiving ‘encouraging response’. No surprises there.
“This programme was held twice in Labuan, followed by Bandar Tun Razak, Segambut, Bukit Bintang, Setiawangsa and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur.”
“The initiative will be extended to other areas in phases after this, depending on the economic situation," he told reporters after attending the "Jom Isi Minyak" (Let's Fill Up) programme at the Precinct 9 Petronas petrol station, here, today.
We’re not told how only Putrajaya residents get to enjoy this (maybe based on address in the fuel purchaser’s identity card?) but in any case we’re sure someone will be quick to exploit this. Also, free fuel for the entire second and third week? Really?
The real big question, however: Where is the money coming from?
