Even the rear seats have been removed to save 30 kg

Toyota yesterday revealed what is arguably the most extreme version of the GR Corolla, called the GR Corolla Morizo Edition. 

Announced simultaneously along the GR Corolla RZ, the Morizon Edition was crafted by Toyota Motor Corporation's President and Master Driver Akio Toyoda, a.k.a. Morizo himself who was directly behind the wheel of development prototypes. 

According to Toyota, the GR Corolla Morizo Edition will be available only in limited quantities through GR Garage locations in Japan from the end of 2022.

The two-seater has gone through thorough weight reduction, increased engine torque, and optimized transmission gear ratios, combined with improved cornering execution through the use of monotube shock absorbers and high-performance tires, which promise to offer exciting driving dynamics.

Proving that this car means business, the folks at Toyota have removed the rear seat which has reduced the weight by approximately 30 kilograms.

While maximum torque has been increased from 370 Nm to 400 Nm, body rigidity was further strengthened by applying an additional 3.3 meters of structural adhesive and adding body reinforcement braces.

And then we have the lower-geared differential gears and closer ratios for the first, second, and third gears which have improved dynamic performance and provided a pleasing sensation of gear engagement.

Fitted with high-grip tires that are widened by 10 mm, cornering stability and braking performance is also expected to be mighty impressive.

Inside, exclusive semi-bucket seats hold the body firmly for accurate driving even when the driver is subjected to considerable g-forces due to improved driving performance.

Door trim ornamentation and the instrument panel are covered in cast-black paint coalesce with an Ultrasuede upholstered steering wheel and center console. 

The exterior color is an exclusive Matte Steel, and the front windshield bears Morizo’s signature as a testament to the unique and discerning approach to creating the GR Corolla Morizo Edition.
