The Perodua Myvi GT, a purported high-performance variant of Malaysia’s best-selling car first previewed in the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show, is still a possibility according to the company’s president and CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
To deliver a car that is functionally and visually similar to the car displayed at the motor show, Zainal stresses that production of the Myvi GT needs to be commercially viable such that Perodua’s vendors are not financially affected by the understandably costly venture. Should Perodua proceed, Zainal wants the car to meet the brand’s safety and quality standards while staying within a reasonable price range.
Zainal claims that a thorough survey on the required production volume is underway and that a project team has already been set up to further study the Myvi GT’s market readiness.
To sum things up between the lines, Perodua is still putting some serious thought into turning the Myvi GT concept into a reality, which is great news for all hot hatch fans and driving enthusiasts who can’t afford a Honda Civic Type R.
