Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec 'Midnight Purple II' sold for RM1.3 million
The prices for iconic Japanese cars are getting more insane over the years as people with 'deep pockets' tend to outbid everyone else just to own what can only be compared to with unicorns. This particular 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec 'Midnight Purple II' was auctioned off last week by Bring a Trailer where the winning bid was a whopping $315,187 (around RM1.3 million).
There's no denying that this R34 looks amazing despite its age (see what tender, love and care can do) but RM1.3 million for 22-year-old car with 64,000km registered on the odometer? That alone should tell you how much people are willing to pay to own a Skyline GT-R, especially one that's this rare and clean despite the mileage.
There are only 282 units of the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec that came out from the factory floors with the Midnight Purple II colour option, which is also another reason the prices can go up to these heights. For the most part, this unit has been kept relatively stock, including its very clean and extremely legendary 2.6-litre RB26DETT inline-six engine.
If you happen to have a Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec of your very own, congratulations, you're a millionaire! Then again, you're probably very well off to begin with if you have one of these babies tucked away somewhere, especially during this long FMCO. Sorry, Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan.
