Mercedes-Benz E-Class Line Up Revamped

By thoriq, 06 March 2019

Yes, the mighty German three-pointed star is making waves internationally at the on-going Geneva Motor Show 2019 with things like the AMG GT R Roadster, CLA Shooting Brake, the last V12-powered S-Class and even the EQV van thingy.

But that did little from stopping its Malaysian arm from making news today as well. Introduced earlier this morning at the Cycle & Carriage Bintang Autohaus PJ was the new-for-2019 Mercedes-Benz E350 AMG Line variant.

The locally assembled (CKD) new flagship is one of three new-for-2019 variants of the W213 E-Class saloon announced by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) today. Effectively, MBM have streamlined the CKD E-Class range once again for 2019 with three variants.

Besides the new E350 AMG Line flagship, MBM announced a new mid-range E300 Exclusive Line offerings plus a new E200 Sportstyle Avantgarde entry-level offering too. Various updates have been performed including mild nip-tucks, but key amongst which lie in the trio’s shared new powertrain and individual on board features list.

Firstly, all three share a new 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol heart that’s now equipped with a belt-driven starter generator (RSG), and paired with the brand’s nine-speed automatic box that boasts paddle-shifters too.

Here’s a quick overview of the powertrain’s rating in each variant:

Powertrains aside, the new-for-2019 E-Class range also sees a refreshed list of on-board featured in each respective variant. Highlights in the flagship E350 AMG Line include new trim materials, design and options; the inclusion of a Driving Assistance Package; as well as Dynamic Body Control adaptive damping.

FYI, the Driving Assistance Package adds several active safety features to enhance this four-door saloon’s safety further. In the flagship E350 AMG Line, it gets topped off with several AMG Line bits like the 19-inch alloy wheels to match with this sporty and brawny saloon’s stance.

Though the other two variants makes do with a little bit less things, they do benefit with the addition of Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist in the E300 Exclusive Line, and just Blind Spot Assist in the E200 Sportstyle Avantgarde.

These changes aside, the last change comes in the range’s pricing scheme, and it goes as such:

Do note that the E200 and E300 prices are still estimations for now, so we’ll likely see a slight change later on.

Also, MBM have kick off a special E-ssential financing campaign through its Agility financing arm. Monthly rates starts from as low as RM3,998 and comes with a variety of packages. Additionally, 2 Complimentary Comprehensive Service Package will be rewarded for bookings made during this campaign that runs up until April 30.
