Malaysia's only MotoGP mechanic inspires over 250 automotive students
The world of motorsports is not all fun and glamour, but there is a level of prestige to being involved at one of the highest levels of two-wheel racing, and even more so if one has been doing so for many years. For one Hibbatuulah Mohd Fuad or more popularly known as Habib, being the only Malaysian mechanic in MotoGP certainly brings a beacon of aspiration for those wanting to be part of an elite motorsports fraternity.
Petronas Lubricants International held a virtual talk session yesterday between Habib and over 250 students from Despark College, a local education institution related to automotive and aircraft maintenance. Participants of the second 'Shaping Industry-ready Graduates' were given an insight look from Habib's years of experience as a race mechanic which led him to his current position with the Petronas Sprinta Racing team in MotoGP's intermediate class, Moto2.
It was a simple yet profound session where Habib shared his journey and experience in the field, his role in the team as one of the mechanics for Petronas Sprinta Racing Moto2 rider, Xavi Vierge, and a day-to-day insight into his current life of working and travelling the world from one world-class circuit to another. He also shared challenges and difficulties with all the participating students as another way to get them prepared for the real working world.
According to Ahmad Firdaus Mansor, Business Development Manager of Despark College, "For us at Despark College, we care deeply about the quality of education and the learning experience of our students, especially in challenging times. The collaboration with Petronas Lubricants is clearly providing our students with the relevant industry insights to further prepare our students."
