The pandemic may still be a looming crisis locally, but the number of new car launches expected to take place in the fourth quarter seems to suggest that the local auto industry will see light at the end of this bleak tunnel still.
Today, Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) is the latest firm to confirm a new addition into its line up for 2020, and it comes in the form of the much-anticipated Hyundai Kona B-segment compact crossover.
In a press statement issued earlier today, HSDM announced that it is now accepting bookings for its rival against the likes of the Honda HR-V and Toyota C-HR – as well as Proton’s upcoming new Geely Binyue-based offering.
Other key details confirmed too are the Kona’s status as a fully imported (CBU) offering, and that it will pack key on board features such as full-LED lighting, a heads-up display, as well as both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity functions in its features list.
HSDM remains tight-lipped about the planned variant count and powertrain choices still at this stage, but details published on its official website did reveal a tentative sub-RM120k price tag, and that bookings can be done from RM288 onwards.
Additionally, early birds who place their bookings now will enjoy a special introductory package on top of receiving an exclusive invitation to the Kona’s launch.
