The tie-up between Aston Martin and Red Bull has already given us one rather special thing: the Valkyrie hypercar, Aston’s physics-bending, V12-powered rival to the Mercedes-AMG Project One.

Well, a stronger relationship between the sports cars and energy drink makers – they call it the ‘Innovation Partnership’ – will see more products appear.

“The Aston Martin Valkyrie, which sold out on launch, is set to be the first in a line of incredible products to be borne of this Innovation Partnership,” Aston says.

Further good news comes in the form of 110 new jobs being formed by an Advanced Performance Centre opening in Milton Keynes, on the site of Red Bull’s F1 base. It will house the designers and engineers who’ll work on these new sports cars. Exciting stuff.

The visible side of all this will be a renaming of the Red Bull F1 team, which will be known as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing from 2018, and Aston assures us it will feature ‘prominently’. By 2021, that could mean supplying the team’s engines.

“The power unit discussions are of interest to us but only if the circumstances are right,” says Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer. “We are not about to enter an engine war with no restrictions in cost or dynamometer hours but we believe that if the FIA can create the right environment we would be interested in getting involved.”
