No Uber or Grab at Sunway Putra Mall? Not quite, says management

Taxi companies may have had their say, and for some reason in the opinion that they have the power to impose a restriction where e-hailing service drivers are not allowed to pick passengers up at certain points. Big Blue Taxi Service founder, Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail first ‘enforced’ it at KLCC, and then added Publika, Ritz Carlton Hotel, Sunway Putra Mall and JW Marriott Hotel to the list.

Well, based on an earlier report by theSundaily, the two hotels responded and said that guests are free to use e-hailing services such as Uber or Grab at their premises.

Today, the same portal reported that the Sunway Putra Mall management has issued a clarification as well, stating that they (the mall) are not exclusively affiliated with any transportation provider. Basically, shoppers and visitors are free to utilise any service provider at the mall. This includes taxi or e-hailing services.

Expect a response from the taxi company soon. And we wonder what they’ll come up with next.
