You want your Lexus LC500 in orange, right?

‘Blazing Carnelian’ sounds like the sort of thing you shout when you stub your toe around young, sensitive ears. But rather than being a verbose alternative to Great British profanities, it’s actually the name of the eye-popping orange you see draped across this Lexus LC.

You want some design speak? “Blazing Carnelian has been created as an emotional colour that evokes the agile driving performance of the latest edition of the flagship coupe,” says Lexus.

That’s far from the best bit, though. See, you can twin this orange paint with a new ‘Manhattan Orange’ colour scheme inside the LC, “inspired by the famous Manhattan Henge – a brilliant natural light effect that occurs twice a year when the setting sun aligns perfectly with the New York district’s famous grid pattern of streets”. Is it just us, or does that actually make some degree of sense?

What we reckon doesn’t make sense is making your LC orange-on-orange, and Lexus seems to have agreed by only photographing the new paint scheme with a contrasting black interior.

Both orange schemes are available on the new 2021 model year LC, which gets much better interior tech than before, while still being offered in V6 hybrid (LC500h) or pure V8 (LC500) forms. We suspect we still don’t need to tell you which one to buy, either.
