2020 BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport
BMW Malaysia welcomes two new additions into its line up in the form of the locally assembled (CKD) 320i Sport and the face-lifted X1 sDrive20i M Sport. Here’s what you ought to know about both.
BMW 320i Sport
If you’ve been longing for a more ‘basic’ flavour of the new generation G20 3er, it has finally arrived in the form of the 320i Sport pictured above. Aptly, it slots below the 330i M Sport, and it’s RM45k cheaper than said flagship at RM243,800. The good news here is that things aren’t as watered down as you might expect.
For starters, there’s the respectably peppy 2.0-litre 4cyl turbo and 8-speed automatic powertrain package it harnesses. The former, which powers the rear wheels, is good for 184bhp and 300Nm, which in turn allows for a 7.1-sec 0-100kph time and 235kph claimed V-max, as well as a rather frugal 6.3 litres/100km claimed economy.
On the surface, the 320i Sport is easily distinguished from its 330i M Sport flagship sibling thanks to a different set of front and rear bumpers design. On top of which, this variant gets exclusively brimmed with a set of V-Spoke Style 780 Bicolour 18-inch alloys too.
On board, the 320i Sport’s cabin sports BMW’s Aluminium ‘Mesheffect’ trims and Sport leather steering wheel. On top of that comes the BMW Live Cockpit Plus suite that’s presented through the combination of an analogue instrument cluster plus both a 5.7-inch display and an 8.8-inch touch-sensitive display.
Besides that, other notable standard kit present on board includes a tri-zone automatic climate control, the NFC-powered BMW Digital Key suite, rear view camera, as well as a full swing of services powered by BMW ConnectedDrive. In other words, it’s as fully loaded as any ‘Beemer should be, but there’s more.
The 320i Sport has one more party trick, and it comes in the form of the BMW Reversing Assistant suite it boasts. This makes the 320i Sport the first in segment to offer hands free, semi-autonomous parking ability, and it comes as a standard feature in this ‘basic’ flavour of the new 3er.
With 5 colour choices available, the new BMW 320i Sport is now available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide. Included in its price is a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage and free service plans plus a 2-year run-flat tyre warranty amongst many other exclusive BMW ownership perks.

Besides the new base 3er, BMW Malaysia also announced the availability of its face-lifted and now much sportier-looking X1 sDrive20i M Sport offering. There’s plenty to marvel at with this nip-tuck such as the redesigned front grille, bumpers and LED lights.
Aptly, this refreshed X1 variant’s sportier new look is fuelled by the presence of things like the M Sport Suspension, the BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line trim and the M Aerodynamics Package, not forgetting the Double-Spoke Style 570 M Bicolour 18-inch M light alloy wheels it rolls on too.
Underneath, the X1 sDrive20i still harnesses a 2.0-litre 4cyl turbo heart and a 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic box combination to power its front wheels. With 192bhp and 280Nm available, the package sees 0-100kph done in 7.6 seconds and a claimed V-max of 224kph, not forgetting a frugal 6.5 litres/100km claimed economy.
On board, the X1 sDrive20i M Sport sees its cabin now trimmed with striking aluminium with pearl chrome highlights, as well as the M Sport leather steering wheel and a sportier instrument panel design. There’s also a new 8.8-inch touchscreen navigation unit and the full swing of BMW ConnectedDrive services available.
Available in four colourway options, the new BMW X1 sDrive20i will hit at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from 13th January 2020, each priced at RM233,800.
A 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage and free service plans plus a 2-year run-flat tyre warranty are included in said price.
