Yikes, this Mk2 VW Golf will set you back almost RM422k

We all love a good hot hatch, right? But when the hot hatch in question is from 1989 and will set you back near enough eighty-thousand pounds, well, that might just be a tough pill to swallow. Heck, that’s brand-new BMW M3 money.

But hear us out, because the little Mk2 Golf you see above is very special indeed. Called the G60 Limited, this is number 16 of just 71 conceived and built by VW’s Motorsport division, making it as rare as they come.

It was a proper little Golf R predecessor too, with a four-wheel drive system from the Golf Syncro, suspension and gearbox from the Group A Rallye Golf, and, most notably of all, VW’s 16-valve 1.8-litre engine – only here it was supercharged. The result was 210bhp and 21.05Nm of torque, good for 0-100kph in 6.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 140mph, making it the fastest production VW ever back in its day.

Finished in Graphite Grey Metallic, additional clues as to what's underneath include a VW Motorsport grille with blue surround, Motorsport badges front and rear, the single round headlights and 15-inch BBS split-rim wheels.

Inside, the G60 Limited was treated to heated leather seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel, gearknob, handbrake lever and doorcards. It also came with such luxuries at the time as ABS, power steering, a sunroof, electric windows, electric wing mirrors and central locking. Ah, simpler times.

Owned by the same individual since 2007 and reportedly fully refreshed a couple of years back, this particular G60 Limited was also treated to a complete mechanical overhaul and top-end engine rebuild in 2008, and in the boot you’ll even find the original VW first aid kit.

Still… enough to make your part with that much cash, Internet?
