Warning: you will want this modified Koenigsegg CCX

Back in 1994, Christian von Koenigsegg had a dream. Presumably it was one which involved severely scaring the pants off the world’s billionaires, because his company has since produced insanely powerful, beautifully engineered monsters in extremely exclusive numbers.

The car you see above you is a Koenigsegg CCX – the company’s third production model and the first to be sold in the USA – released all the way back in 2006. This specific example was actually the very first car shipped to a US customer, and it’s now up for sale at auction.

The estimate? A measly $950,000 to $1,200,000 (RM3.8m to RM4.9m). Just look at it though. Does anyone do exposed carbon fibre as well as Koenigsegg?

The CCX was the first Koenigsegg to use an engine designed and made completely in-house, with the 4.7-litre V8 producing 806bhp as standard. The previous owner of this one must have been brave though – it’s been upgraded by Koenigsegg themselves to put out a faintly terrifying 980bhp.

Thankfully, to help keep it on the straight and narrow this CCX also has the Top Gear rear-wing – an addition made after our very own Stig had a little bit of an off when setting a lap time around the TG test track.

As they continue to push the boundaries of physics, mechanics and just about everything else, the Swedes are set to unveil a new 1,400bhp successor to the Agera at the fast-approaching Geneva Motor Show. However, CvK told us last year that it wouldn’t be ready to deliver to customers for another couple of years.

Need something to fill the gap then? You can thank us later.
