Honda Malaysia has signed a collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Education’s Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (DPCCE) to incorporate training modules used by Honda into selected automotive syllabus. This deal will benefit 17 community colleges from nine states in Malaysia with more polytechnics and colleges expected to be added into the list.

The collaboration is an initiative by Honda Malaysia to support the government’s focus on Technical Vocational Education and Training towards developing more skilled and certified technicians through high quality training.

One of the Honda modules to be incorporated into the syllabus include the Maintenance Technician and Repair Technician module which is part of the Honda internal global training package. Students will also gain a six-month industrial attachment at Honda Malaysia dealerships.

Students of these selected automotive courses are expected to graduate with greater career prospects, including becoming official Honda technicians or service personnel upon going through intensive trainings and assessment. Honda Malaysia is targeting to receive 120 graduates per year from participating polytechnics and colleges throughout Malaysia through this collaboration.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said, “Honda Malaysia has recorded outstanding sales increase by 112% in the past 5 years and this concurrently increases our service intake by 51% over the same period. This leads us to expand our dealership network nationwide, which now stands at 97 outlets to provide easier access for all our customers. Hence, this initiative is very timely as we are able to have more skilled technicians to cater to our increasing customers.”
