Upgraded 2020 Toyota Vellfire and Alphard now open for orders
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) announced that it will now accept orders for the new and upgraded 2020 model year Toyota Vellfire and Alphard models through authorised dealers nationwide starting today.
Two variants of the Alphard (pictured above) will be available starting with a base version, along with an Alphard 3.5 Executive Lounge. A 3.5-litre V6 petrol will power both, and it’s paired with an 8-speed automatic box.
Just one variant of the Vellfire (pictured below, in black) will be available, powered by a 2.5-litre 4cyl petrol heart and paired with a 7spd CVT.
While visual changes are minimal, both the 2020MY Vellfire and Alphard will benefit a host of new features, namely in the areas of safety and connectivity. For starters, theres a new 9-inch infotainment screen that boasts both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On top of that, both the 2020MY Vellfire and Alphard gets brimmed with a Vehicle Telematics System (VTS). This suite allows uses GPS/GSM to track the location of the car at all times and aid in the vehicle’s recovery in the event of theft. It also monitors and records vehicle speeds and other operating conditions, with data sent via email to a designated user.
In terms of safety, Toyota has beefed up both with a full array of new features that includes a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), front and rear dash cams (DVRs), Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), something called Parking Support Brake System, not forgetting the Toyota Safety System (TSS) package as well.
With TSS, both the 2020MY Vellfire and Alphard are now equipped with Pre-collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).
As for pricing, UMWT states that the single Vellfire variant will start from RM383,000. Figures for the Alphard, on the other hand, start from RM465,000 onwards instead. Said prices will include a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage and a 10-year guarantee over availability of parts by UMWT.
