Moving up into the Countryman Plug-In Hybrid, MINI have readied a new ‘Wired Package’ option that adds a plethora of new features. Highlights include a new 8.8-inch touchscreen display, 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a driver’s heads-up display (HUD), as well as a set of 19-inch alloy wheels.

Mechanically, things remain unchanged from before. The plug-in still harnesses both a 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder petrol mill and a rear-mounted electric motor that boasts combined outputs of 221hp and 385Nm to power all four wheels via a six-speed automatic box.

Whilst ‘greener’ with a claimed 2.1 litres/100km fuel consumption figure, the Plug-In is still no slouch as 0-100kph takes just 6.8 seconds whilst enroute to a claimed V-Max of 198kph.

By the way, both the Plug-In and new Cooper S Pure share a few new standard features now primed on board. Highlights include the enhanced new MINI Connected suite with built-in 4G SIM connectivity.

Along with it came a host of new services, namely things like Intelligent Emergency Call, TeleServices, MINI Online, MINI Concierge Service, wireless Apple CarPlay, Remote Services and eDrive Services (for the Plug-In)

Included as standard items in both too are Comfort Access, Park Assist, front and rear PDC, powered tailgate, rear-view camera and the novel MINI Picnic Bench.

Excluding insurance costs, the new MINI Countryman Cooper S Pure commands a price tag of RM228,888. In its base form, the Countryman Plug-In Hybrid retains its RM250,888 figure from before, whilst its new Wired Package option costs an additional RM18,000.

As always, all prices include a 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage plus free scheduled service package.
