Up close: Mazda CX-30 in Malaysia showrooms

By thoriq, 24 December 2019

We're still at odds with Mazda's peculiar way with numbers, but Malaysians who superstitiously aren't very fond of the number four should find its new CX-30 a welcomed compromise between the brand's CX-3 and CX-5 offerings.

Well, said new crossover has finally landed on our shores and into Mazda showrooms this week, and we managed to take a closer look at it.

As reported prior, order books for the CX-30 are now open with three variants to choose from. The CX-30 pictured here likely stands as the CX-30 2.0G High variant that sits in the middle of the range next to a base-spec 2.0G and flagship diesel-powered 1.8D High variants.

Notably, the CX-30 retails as fully imported (CBU) offering for now, so we can expect the presence of premium features such as a sunroof, powered tailgate, full-LED lighting, dual-zone climate control, and a reverse camera in the mix.

Crucially, the CX-30 will also feature the latest Mazda Connect infotainment suite that we first saw in the 2019 Mazda3 that features both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Naturally, the availability of these features will differ from spec-to-spec.

Additionally, all variants get Mazda's i-Stop system and G-Vectoring Control (GVC) Plus suites. Higher end variant will also come brimmed with active safety features such as the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM).

Prices for the new Mazda CX-30 start from RM143,119 for the 2.0G variant, from RM164,119 for the 2.0G High whilst the range-topping 1.8D High commands RM173,027. All prices includes a five-year warranty and free service package.
