Toyota seeks transform car ownership experience with 'move your world' vision

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) is set to close 2022 with a  stronger position in unit sales, with 90,595 (Toyota & Lexus) units moved in the period of 11 months,  a 44% increase over same period last year 2021, which enabled Toyota to maintain the title of  Malaysia's No. 1 non-national automotive brand, a competitive record Toyota aims to continue in  2023.

Year-to-date sales as of November stood at 90,595 (Toyota & Lexus), while monthly sales in  November stood at 10,442 (Toyota & Lexus) compared to 8,487 (Toyota & Lexus) in the same period  last year, equivalent to a 23% increase. Toyota hopes to maintain this positive trend in 2023, in light  of plans to launch several new models in the new year

The details were revealed by Ravindran K., President of UMWT, at the Toyota Move Your World Media Night, speaking to approximately 150 guests, comprising senior personnel from media organisations. He also shared details on the company’s new direction in Malaysia, in line with its regional vision to "Move Your World."

“Move Your World is our realisation of a future mobility society, within our push to transition from an automobile company to a mobility company. Car ownership will be more convenient than ever, with delivery to your doorstep, holistic car maintenance assistance services, simpler ownership cost management, and much more. As society becomes more diverse, freedom of choice is increasingly more valuable, which is reflected in Toyota’s new offerings that include carbon-reducing Hybrid-Electric vehicles, carbon-neutral Battery-Electric vehicles and performance GR models. We will be announcing further details on these new offerings in 2023, so stay tuned,” he said.

In line with the Move Your World branding direction, Toyota has upgraded its website in Malaysia to strengthen a customer-centric web design concept with new user-friendly features and a modern interface to enable optimal engagement through enhanced data-driven personalisation. The new features, which include a search function, branding pages, home page personalisation, and a preferred dealer setting, will provide website visitors with a seamless web-browsing experience.

Ravindran K. also spoke on Toyota’s green strategy for its portfolio, based on achieving carbon neutrality with a multi-prong approach. “We believe there is no one-size-fits-all solution, and currently, Hybrid-Electric is the most viable way forward in achieving carbon neutrality”.

In Malaysia, he believes that HEVs are the most accessible and affordable option for car owners to begin their carbon-reducing journey, until the nation progressively move towards more forms of electrification to be more accessible. He also mentions that Toyota’s green lineup includes the carbon reducing Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric, which will be joined by a second HEV in 2023.
