This swoopy thing is the Chrysler Airflow Vision Concept

Impossible wheel design? Check. Full-length light bar? Check. Buttonless, screen filled interior? Check. Welcome to Concept Car Bingo, and of course, the Chrysler Airflow Vision Concept.

You’ll have guessed already that there’s very little chance of this thing ever seeing a dealer’s forecourt, and you’ll probably be expecting to hear something like ‘design direction’ muttered soon. Here it is then… Chrysler says that this thing “hints at the future of premium design” and is a “sculptural design concept”.

It does essentially just look like a crossover with big wheels, though, and the one on display at CES in Las Vegas is apparently based on the Pacifica MPV, so who knows what’ll come of it in the end. The name of course is a throwback to Chrysler’s aerodynamic Airflow saloon of the 1930s – a car that looked fantastic but was ultimately a sales flop.

Still, there are elements of the Airflow Vision that could make their way into Chryslers of the near future. That rear light bar is a lovely piece of design and looks doable, as do the multiple interior screens.

We don’t know too much else about the concept, other than Chrysler wants the interior to provide a ‘first-class travel experience’. So, the colours are designed to convey a sense of calm and there’s suede and leather aplenty.
