Yep, you did read that subheading correctly – this is a €114,000 (approx. RM558k) Audi TT. Crikey. Of course, it isn’t just any TT, this is the TT RS 40 Years of quattro. In fact, to give it its proper name, it’s the TT RS 40 Jahre quattro – because this thing will only be available in Germany.

Just 40 examples will be produced too, each one signifying a year since the Ur-Quattro was first unveiled at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show.

Mechanically, the special edition seems to be just a fully optioned TT RS. That means the wonderful 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo engine makes no more power, but there’s still 395bhp and 480Nm of torque. There’s also all-wheel drive (or else it wouldn’t be a very fitting tribute) with torque vectoring tech that can brake an inside wheel during cornering.

There’s still the same seven-speed S tronic paddleshift gearbox and 3.7 second 0-100kph time too, and the limiter is removed for a top speed of 280kph.

What is new, then? Well, those fantastic white 20-inch wheels and the retro decals hark back to Walter Röhrl’s 1987 Pikes Peak-winning Quattro S1, and there’s a slightly more aggressive aero kit as well as a new bonnet vent.

On the inside, buyers can replace the back seats with a carbon fibre strut brace that saves 16kg and improves torsional rigidity. There’s plenty of Alcantara too, plus the all-important special edition embroidery and limited edition numbered badging. Classy. What do you folks think?
