Emilia GT to build 22 units of restomodded Alfa Romeo Giulia GT powered by the Giulia QV's 503bhp V6 engine

These are quite the sketches, aren’t they? What you’re looking at above will soon be a restomodded Alfa Romeo Giulia GT with the 503bhp 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine from the modern-day Giulia Quadrifoglio.

It’s the work of German classic and sports car specialist Emilia Auto in partnership with VELA Performance, and just 22 examples will be built, with the first prototype expected to be on the road in mid-2022.

That bonkers power will be sent to the rear wheels alone by the modern Giulia’s standard eight-speed auto gearbox, although there’ll be power steering, a limited-slip diff, ABS and traction control to rein things in. Phew.

The Sprint GT’s 1960s chassis has been almost completed replaced by a high-strength spaceframe to cope with the new powertrain, and that swollen carbon fibre bodywork is a rather nice continuation of the glorious original design. Those wheels are 19-inchers too.

There’ll be LED lights front and rear, and Emilia plans to fit Brembo brakes and a KW coilover kit with all-round independent suspension. Total weight will be around 1,250kg. Should be rather brisk then.

On the inside there’ll be air con, electric windows and a proper multimedia system, with customers able to choose between a number of different trims and materials.

You want to know the price, right? Well, it’s somewhere in the region of €400,000 (RM 2 million). Yikes. Although that does make it a tiny bit cheaper than Totem Automobili’s all-electric, 518bhp restomod Giulia GT. Which would you have, Internet?
