This one-off Aston Vantage is NOT the AMR you thought you knew

There’s a new addition in the Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur showroom right now. And while it looks strikingly similar to the manual-boxed, carbon braked Vantage AMR, it's actually a unique interpretation of the British supercar manufacturer's racy special based on the existing V8 Vantage, complete with the "Vibrant Lime Essence" responsible for that signature AMR zest.

When we say unique, we mean it. Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur calls this the Vantage AMR Malaysia edition built to commemorate the upcoming Merdeka festivities. And there’s only one - yes, ONE - up for grabs. That alone makes it ‘rarer’ than the special that inspired it, which is limited to just 200 units globally – or just 59 units if we’re talking about it in ‘Vantage 59’ spec.

Though this isn't the much-lauded stick-shift special, it arguably doesn’t make it any less special.

This is the Vantage after all – Aston Martin’s most driver-focused offering to date. This means it still packs a 503bhp Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 heart that grants 0-100kph in 3.6 seconds and a 314kph vmax.

Again, unlike said special, this Vantage also has the full-fat 685Nm of torque available, not the 625Nm that the seven-speed manual-boxed AMR special is ‘limited’ to – 685Nm is just too much for the "purist-spec" transmission to handle, possibly.

So, if you like the way this Vantage AMR 'homage' is specced and dressed, you’d probably best hurry on down to Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur and snap it up. As for price, that’s difficult to say given that there isn’t one stated – you’ll have to enquire with the dealership directly, or online by clicking these blue words...

As a reference, the Vantage’s current base price sans duties stands at RM678k. Given the uniquely specified exterior and interior trim and paint options present, we reckon you’d best triple that figure at the very least to drive this one out of the showroom.

Yes, pricey for a something that's basically a visual reproduction of the AMR special, but probably more accessible than the real deal, and a one-of-one offering at that; you simply cant put a price on that… right?
