This Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy racer has a retro livery
Retro liveries are all the rage right now, and latest on the bandwagon – albeit a bandwagon we’re all in favour of – is Jaguar.
Or more precisely, TWR. The team that ran the Jaguar XJR-9 at Le Mans, and winning the 24-hour race with the car’s first outing in 1988, has taken its livery and daubed it across the I-Pace eTrophy racer it’s helping run.
TWR has teamed up with Chinese racing team TECHEETAH to run an I-Pace in Formula E’s one-make support race, and has injected some credibility into its 395bhp all-electric racecar via the colours of the Silk Cut-sponsored XJR-9.
Reckon it’s successful? The cigarette sponsorship has – naturally – disappeared, but the iconic purple, white and gold remain on Canadian driver Stefan Rzadzinski’s car.
“We know that there is a real affinity for retro liveries amongst fans, can’t wait to see the response that our cars get at this weekend’s race,” says TWR TECHEETAH’s team principal Keith Smout, this weekend’s race being at the Mexico ePrix in Mexico City.
