This is the peppiest and most tech-laden Vespa on sale now
Think the updated 2020 Yamaha N-Max launched earlier this week lacked some zing? Well, if you've got both a B-full license and the financial means, you'd want to focus your attention to Vespa Malaysia (Didi Resources Sdn Bhd) and its latest offering to make landfall this week.
Meet the new Vespa GTS 300 HPE Supertech, which now stands as the peppiest and most tech-laden Vespa on sale right now.
As you can probably guess, this scooter packs the Vespa brand's 300 HPE powertrain package. Displacing 278cc, this liquid-cooled single-cylinder thumps out a peppy 23hp and 26Nm of twist to the rear wheel through a twist-and-go CVT automatic box. The increased pep and efficiency it promises comes from the adoption of a new ECU and improved engine hardware.
As for tech, thankfully there's a notable new addition here to justify its 'Supertech' nameplate. Unlike most Vespas – big and small – on sale, this GTS 300 HPE Supertech sports an interactive new TFT digital instrument display that boast Bluetooth-enabled smatphone app connectivity functions via dedicated VESPA MIA and Vespa App (both available for iOS and Android).
This connected feature lets riders connect their smartphones with the aforementioned TFT screen and enable call and message notification and management. It also grants access to smarthphone voice commands, as well as music playback control and navigation display. All of which can toggled whilst riding via an intuitive joystick control present on the left-side of the handle bar.
Apart from that, it's worth noting that the Vespa GTS 300 HPE Supertech mirrors past GTS 300 Super models in terms safety as it packs an all-round disc brake setup supplemented with dual-channel ABS plus traction control suites too. Notably safe here is the methacrylate flyscreen brimmed up front that's both impact and splinter resistant.
Couple all that safety with the connectivity features detailed earlier, perhaps the princely price tag this premium scooter commands is somewhat justified. Available through authorised dealers now, the Vespa GTS 300 HPE Supertech commands a base price figure of RM33,300 (sans on-road costs).
Yep, not a cheap scooter indeed.. However, we reckon this much style, performance and tech may have convinced many into its favour as it did with us...
