This is the lovely Lexus LC Convertible Regatta Edition

By topgear, 05 August 2020

Credit cards at the ready, folks, because Lexus is opening the order books for its rather lovely-looking LC Convertible on 5 August. But a lucky few have already bagged themselves one of these – an LC Convertible Regatta Edition. A tiny number are coming to the UK and they’re all spoken for.

The Regatta Edition is supposed to “evoke the ambience of a luxury marina, lined with ocean-going yachts”, says Lexus. Its ‘Structural Blue’ paintwork uses micro-particles for better depth, while the interior’s fantastically impractical bright white and dark blue leather upholstery is meant to highlight the “harmonious flow between the inside and outside of the car”.

Mechanically it’s the same as the standard LC Convertible, with a nat-asp 5.0-litre V8 making 471bhp and 398lb ft of torque, and a ten-speed automatic gearbox driving the rear wheels. It’s 100kg heftier versus the LC Coupe, but Lexus says it should still be fun enough to drive thanks to structural and suspension changes.

Not that this thing is about being ‘fun’ to drive in the traditional sense – it’s a cruiser, and a mighty fine-looking one at that. Interested parties can reserve an LC Convertible on Lexus’ website from tomorrow, 5 August, and should get their new car in the autumn.
