This is how you get an Aston Martin DBX with two extra years of warranty
Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur (AMKL) has really been on a roll of late. A little over a month ago, its showroom hosted the long-awaited launch of the DBX. The company kept busy with the Vantage Dark Knight Edition last week. And it's at it again with the DBX, this time with the introduction of something called the Intrepid Aura specification for the British sports car manufacturer's first ever SUV.
The Aston Martin DBX Intrepid Aura is practically a showcase of what a brazenly customised DBX would look like in the metal. The Yellow Tang version pictured, for starters, packs the racy aesthetics commonly associated with the Vantage thanks in part to its 22-inch satin black alloys, smoked rear lights and matching 'electron yellow' seat stitching that's all part of the Intrepid Aura package.
If you like your sports SUVs in a shade that pops in a lobby of black Range Rovers and silver Porsches, this is essentially AMKL's way of doing the customisation work for you, much like an omakase menu at a swanky Japanese restaurant - the special of the day so to speak. If you're not a fan of yellow, there are three other Intrepid Aura units painted in Ceramic Blue, Stratus White and Lime Essence respectively.
In practice, it is possible to specify a DBX with the same kit and colour as any member of this neon quartet at your own accord. However, AMKL will throw in an extended, five-year unlimited-mileage warranty exclusively for the four Intrepid Aura units, which is a notable upgrade over the standard three-year coverage. As for prices, these brightly-coloured DBXes start from RM958,000 before duties and taxes, making them RM140k costlier than the base unit.
This colour-based strategy is reminiscent to the one employed by the similarly-endowed Maserati Levante Trofeo that made its bow here a few months ago. Which SUV do you think pulls of colour with more grace?
