The Lincoln Navigator L is a very very large car. It’s almost half a metre longer (and a fair bit wider) than a Range Rover LWB for goodness sake. It’s also extremely heavy, weighing in around 2.7 tonnes.

America’s version of EuroNCAP – the IIHS – gave it a five-star rating for safety, but presumably that’s because it just ploughed on through the concrete barrier.

What the Navigator L really needed then, was enough armour plating to protect its occupants from 7.62mm assault rifle fire and enough blast protection to ward off two hand grenades. Yeah – this is the INKAS Armored Lincoln Navigator L, and it may just be the heaviest object known to mankind.

If you want status, though, this’ll get you status. Just look at it. Those 22-inch wheels are now clad with runflat tyres and all of the door hinges and critical structure points have been reinforced. There’s even a siren and PA system to “attract attention in the event of an attack”.

INKAS keeps the standard drivetrain – a 3.5-litre V6 that sends a hefty 450bhp and 691Nm of torque to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Thankfully the suspension is reinforced, though.

Elsewhere there’s extra protection for the battery and ECU, as well as bullet-resistant glass all round. If your three most important requirements are space, safety and a bit of luxury when buying a new car – the INKAS Navigator L might just be your ideal family transport.
