Fifteen52 Super Touring wheels with custom turbofans, wrapped in Yokohama Advan tyres. Ooooft. That’s a serious wheel and tyre combo if ever we’ve seen one.

Oh yes, there’s a car attached to those wheels that we need to talk about. What you see above, if you managed to draw your eyes away from the wheels, is a Ford Mustang GT built by Team Penske NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney and automotive photographer Larry Chen.

A strange collaboration for tuning a road car you may think, but it’s all part of a Ford Performance project with an American company called MoneyLion. They’re a sponsor of Team Penske and have built three different custom Mustangs that will all be given away in a sweepstake – including this one.

But let’s get back to the car. Under the now-carbon fibre bonnet is a Roush supercharger kit that takes power up to 700bhp and torque to 827nm. That seems like plenty. There’s also a MagnaFlow performance exhaust and a carbon spoiler on the back.

Those wheels aren’t just for show either. The turbofans help to whip warm air away from the Wilwood performance brakes – keeping them cool in the process. And they’re not the only retro feature – the graphics are actually a homage to the Ford GT40s that competed in the 1966 Daytona 24 hours.

The Mustang’s interior hasn’t escaped the modifying treatment either. There’s a NASCAR-style steering wheel, NRG racing bucket seats and full harnesses.

The car will be officially unveiled at Talladega Superspeedway later this month, but for now we want to know what else you’d like to see turbofans on.
