The third-gen Perodua Myvi is now available in Singapore following its official launch during the weekend. Two variants are available – 1.3 X AT and 1.5 H AT, priced at SGD64,800 and SGD69,800 respectively with tax and the certificate of entitlement (COE) included. That’s RM197,094 and RM212,301. Yes, that’s right; but let’s move on.

According to Perocom Auto Lte, the sole authorised distributor for the brand in Singapore, up to 250 customers came to see the latest compact at the launch. This is the Myvi’s first export market as the ones sent to Indonesia are badged as the Daihatsu Sirion.

“The current-generation Myvi’s foray into Singapore is significant in terms of brand presence despite the high barriers for entry into this mature market. This also marks the model’s first export destination under the Perodua brand,” Perodua president and CEO Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

Perocom has a long history of selling Perodua vehicles, stretching back to 1997 and spans models that include the Kancil, Kembara, Kelisa, Viva, Axia, Bezza and also the first-generation Myvi.

The number of new cars registered in Singapore varies a fair amount from year to year, numbering 80,281 units in 2018, 91,922 in 2017, 87,504 in 2016 and 57,589 in 2015, according to Land Transport Authority (LTA) statistics.
