These are all the CNY car promos going on in Malaysia right now (Updated)
Chinese New Year comes early in 2020. And as per the norm for pre-festive periods in Malaysia, carmakers are already scrambling to meet their CNY KPIs with a variety of discounts and promotions that we have conveniently summarised for you below. Happy shopping!
HONDA
The best-selling non-national car brand in Malaysia has to sell cars to maintain its lead over Toyota, and that's exactly what it plans to do with its "2020 Starts Now" campaign.
As part of the promotion, customers who register a new Honda Jazz, Jazz Hybrid, City, City Hybrid, HR-V, HR-V Hybrid, BR-V, CR-V and Odyssey can enjoy up to a 'prosperity rebate', an extra bonus of RM888 (obviously) and an 'exclusive gift'.
The total value of these rewards vary from model to model, starting with the BR-V which gets you RM3,000 in rewards up to RM10,000 in rewards if you opt for the HR-V.
FORD
In Malaysia, Ford has essentially become a pick-up truck brand synonymous with the Ranger. So it's no surprise that the Ranger is the subject of its CNY 2020 promo, but it's a good one if you're already in a market for a new ride to tear up the dirt in.
Up till 31 January, anyone who purchases a Ford Ranger Wildtrak or Ford Ranger Raptor will receive an 'ang pao' worth RM2,000, a Ford Performance Golf Umbrella and two years free maintenance (up to 40,000km). Additionally, buyers of the range-topping Ranger Raptor will receive a RM3,000 rebate to offset the purchase price of the most expensive pickup truck currently on sale in Malaysia.
MITSUBISHI
Off-road enthusiasts who prefer something more down-to-earth than the Ranger Raptor will be happy to know that the Triton is part of Mitsubishi Malaysia's ongoing CNY promotions.
Cash rebates ranging from RM2,000 to RM9,000 are on offer for various Triton models but buyers of the Triton VGT MT Premium, Triton VGT AT Premium and Triton VGT Adventure X have the option of trading their rebates for 0.88 percent interest rates financed by Maybank or Public Bank instead. To top it off, existing Mitsubishi owners and pickup truck owners qualify for additional rebates worth RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively when buying a new Triton.
On the SUV front, the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 and 2.4 is offered with cash rebates worth RM4,000 and RM2,000 each plus two years of free maintenance. Meanwhile, the ASX 2WD and 4WD gets more generous rebates of RM12,000 and RM8,000 respectively. These promotions last till the end of January as well.
NAZA (KIA, CITROEN & PEUGEOT)
Of all the festive promos currently going on, this is probably the most interesting one as there's a FREE CAR up for grabs and the campaign, prosperously titled "More Ong, More Huat", goes on a little longer, till 29 February 2020 to be precise.
Owners of any Kia registered from 7 January till then stand a chance to win a brand new Kia Picanto, on top of periodic prizes including eight petrol vouchers worth RM1,000 monthly and eight Touch N Go cards pre-loaded with RM200 on a weekly basis. They will also enjoy two years of complimentary lubricant service and access to Sky Lounge by Naza located in the Subang airport.
Over in the French quarter, Naza Euro Motors is giving buyers of the C3 Aircross an 'ang pao' worth RM8,888 and three years free service. The latter is also offered on all Peugeot models purchased within the promotional period.
VOLKSWAGEN
Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has given existing owners as much attention as potential ones in its CNY campaign, which also goes on until the end of February. Rebates ranging from RM2,000 and RM8,000 are on offer for anyone who registers a brand new Polo, Vento (Comfortline and Highline), Golf R-Line, Tiguan Highline and Beetle Sport during this period.
There's more good news for Tiguan buyers: all Highline, JOIN and Sound & Style variants qualify for an additional one-year free insurance and one-year free petrol rebate.
Those who already own a Volkswagen will be treated to a free 20-point inspection and up to 20 percent off batteries and tyres plus complimentary VW red packets at authorised service centres. Additionally, owners with free maintenance vouchers who spend RM388 or more will receive a free fluid top-up (coolant, windscreen cleaner and engine oil). This service is also extended to owners without vouchers and Volkswagen Care Plus members with a minimum purchase of RM488 and RM288 respectively.
BMW
BMW has the longest campaign period, with its Chinese New Year offers applicable till 31 March 2020. This in cludes financing interest rates from as low as 1.38 percent for the 330i M Sport, 530e M Sport, 530i M Sport, 520i Luxury, 740Le xDrive LCI, 630i GT, X1 sDrive20i, X3 xDrive30i Luxury and X3 xDrive30i M Sport.
These models also come with a one-year complimentary BMW Ultimate Protection Programme – a first-of-its kind insurance plan that covers owner and vehicle alike. That covers most of BMW Malaysia's CKD line-up, with the exception of more recently-launched models like the facelifted X1 and 320i.
Additionally, all Bimmers listed above, with a curious exception to the 330i M Sport, come with a year's worth of BMW Comprehensive insurance. Meanwhile, buyers of PHEV models like the 530e M Sport and 740Le xDrive LCI will receive a free BMW i Wallbox and BMW ChargeNow card during this promotional period.
MINI
MINI Malaysia's "Springs Into Action" campaign has the same 31st March due date as BMW. Until then, the brand is offering financing packages with instalments from just RM2,388 monthly and cash rebates ranging from RM8,000 to RM22,000 on "selected MINI models".
The real treat is reserved for the first 20 individuals who purchase either a MINI 3-Door or 5-Door hatch during this period. MINI promises to give them an exclusive invite to the MINI Track Driving Experience to hone their skills behind the wheel of their new ride.

Volvo Car Malaysia
This Chinese New Year, Volvo Car Malaysia is offering attractive deals for selected car models purchased before 29th February 2020. It starts with the VSA 5+ complimentary five-year maintenance package rewarded for purchases of the Volvo XC40 T5 R-Design.
Besides that, purchases of the XC90 T5 Momentum and S90 T5 Momentum models also benefit with the VSA5+ package, along with an auspicious ‘ang pow’ worth RM23,888. Also, selected PHEV models will get complimentary Recharge Package worth RM10,000 along with the VSA 5+ package.
By the way, all of this comes on top of the firm's new and extended 8-year PHEV battery warranty. This scheme covers all new Volvo PHEVs registered from 1st January 2020 onwards.
