There’s a new Ford in town. Yes, it’s another Ranger…

By daryl, 04 June 2020

The Ford Ranger is a popular pick-up truck in Malaysia. It’s so popular that it has become the subject of most of local distributor Sime Darby Auto ConneXion’s sales activities of late. That trend continued with the virtual launch of the 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 on the company’s social media platforms, marking the first time a pickup truck has been launched in that manner in Malaysia, such are the distanced times we live in.

The Ranger FX4 is built on the 2019 global facelift, with specs that are largely based on the XLT model. This means you get a 2.2-litre turbodiesel mill under the hood good for 160PS and 385Nm of twist going to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic. Creature comforts like the SYNC infotainment, electronic “shift-on-the-fly” 4x4 and reverse camera have also been adopted from the Ranger XLT.

Differentiating the FX4 from other Ranger models are its unique mesh grille and 18-inch wheels, both in a sporty black finish, and striking FX4 decals of course. These also make their way to various parts of the interior, most of which are topped off with red stitching for good measure.

The Ford Ranger FX4 is priced at RM126,888 on-the-road without insurance. The price includes a three-year manufacturer’s warranty capped at 100,000km. Additionally, SDAC is offering RM5,398 worth of accessories, including a sports bar, window tint and built-in dashcam, to the first 150 buyers.

Without many other models to sell bar the Ranger, we don’t see these 150 ‘value-added’ units staying in stock for long so you better hurry up.
