There are 36,750 different ways of driving*

By topgear, 06 December 2019

Apparently, there are 36,750 different ways to drive. Not our words, of course – they’re the findings of a new study commissioned by Hyundai.

And, because our attention span can be measured in picoseconds, we immediately drifted away from whatever point Hyundai was trying to make and started pondering: what could some of these 36,750 ways to drive include?

  • With one or more geese in the passenger seat

  • Only driving it for a friend; it’s not mine

  • With less than one full pair of trousers on

  • With the engine off down hills, purely for the thrill of trying to drive without any power assistance on the brakes or steering

  • With the engine off up hills, purely for the thrill of coming to a not-so-controlled stop in the overtaking lane

  • With no shoes on, just a really slippery pair of socks

  • With their right hand on the left side of the wheel and left hand on the right side, just to see if they can manage it

  • With their eyes shut, because they heard of something called a bird bath challenge from their nephew

  • In Wales, because they lost their London A to Z and things snowballed from there

  • Headbanging like that scene in Wayne’s World, but to talkback radio

So, that’s 10 down, 36,740 to go. Please, citizens of the Internet, help us complete this list with your particular driving scenario, before we take the skin off our scalps with all this head scratching.
