We've all been waiting for the arrival of the new Suzuki Burgman 400, and it's here

Suzuki Malaysia Sdn Bhd decided to introduce two new models for the Malaysian market this week, the 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the 2022 Suzuki Burgman 400. The Burgman name has been around for decades, but it never actually got much traction here in the country, presumably due to its hefty price tag.

Nevertheless, the latest-generation Burgman maxi-scooter has been massively updated with the latest styling cues from Suzuki as well as other features to make it a worthy model to own within its category. Its overall sleek and slim design (for a maxi-scooter) all comes down to what Suzuki calls the 'Burgman Coupe' look. This means that it was designed to zip in and out of tight spaces like congested cities and traffic jams with ease.

Those who constantly ferry a pillion can also appreciate the Burgman's dual-seat design together with an upswept muffler that gives it a hint of sportiness. Its all-around LED lights are also quite nice and decent to look at no matter which angle you are at. But, what about firepower?

Fitted with a 400cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine, the Burgman 400 produces around 27hp and 35Nm of torque together with an average fuel consumption of 4.0 litres for every 100km. Together with its 13.5-litre fuel tank, that's quite a distance to cover on the Burgman before having needed to stop for fuel.

Other notable features include:

  • Traction Control System
  • Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System
  • Suzuki Easy Start System
  • ABS
  • Multiple storage spaces + more

The 2022 Suzuki Burgman 400 is priced at RM45,999 (excluding insurance, road tax, and registration). Quite a hefty price for a 400cc maxi-scooter, but the price also gets you a two-year full factory warranty or 20,000km (whichever comes first).
