The son of Gemballa is back with a new off-roading supercar

When supercar tuner Uwe Gemballa died back in 2010, it could have been the end of that name’s association with very fast cars. But no. The naming rights now below to a new outfit that’s cooking up a fresh supercar with the Gemballa name. Meanwhile, Uwe Gemballa’s own son is marking the tenth anniversary of his father’s passing by launching a new machine – and his own company – at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show.

Marc Philipp Gemballa has named his company, appropriately, Marc Philipp Gemballa GmbH, and the 26-year old has big plans to create a performance car that’ll stand out from the crowd, not follow it.

He says: “The market has changed. The horsepower game is over, tuning is done by the [carmakers] themselves and there is a glut of new upcoming supercars with hyped-up horsepower figures that are being thrown onto the market.”

So, what’s in store? The company teases thus: “More than two years of preparation and development have resulted in the idea of equipping unique people for their adventure, no matter where in the world, no matter what the terrain, no matter what the climate or road conditions. Marc Philipp Gemballa is taking the extreme from on-road to off-road, building his very first super car combined with off-road capabilities in a limited small series run.

Now, is it just us or is that shadowy teaser image a dead-ringer for a Porsche 959’s wraparound wing, on a 992-gen 911’s full-width lightbar? Looks that way to us. So, could the first car by Marc Philipp Gemballa be some sort of jacked-up, rugged-but-lux 911 Turbo?
