The Perodua Aruz has been mildly updated for 2021 at no extra cost

With over 60,000 units currently plying Malaysian roads, the Perodua Aruz is a common sight that feels like it has already been in our midst for years. In reality, the compact seven-seater was only launched two years ago. It doesn't help that the recently-launched Perodua Ativa is stealing all the attention with its arsenal of next-gen features. And the Aruz's equipment update couldn't have come at a better time, even if it only encompasses a couple of minor tweaks.

The most obvious addition to the 2021 Aruz is the new 'Passion Red' paintjob pictured, which joins the existing palette made up of 'Granite Grey', 'Electric Blue', 'Glittering Silver' and 'Ivory White' options. The crimson hue is different from the 'Pearl Delima Red' hue offered with the Ativa, and is only reserved for the range-topping Aruz AV.

Also new are the 2021 model's side steps for easier accessibility in and out of the tall-ish SUV, plus an automatic door-locking feature that activates once the vehicle reaches 20kph. Perodua says the doors will automatically unlock in the event of a collision. So, there's probably more to its execution than what you'd get in a typical accessory shop auto-lock job.

Prices are unchanged for the 2021 Perodua Aruz, with the X model kicking things off at RM68,526 while the Aruz AV tops out at RM73,226 on-the-road without insurance.
