The Mercedes-Benz C200 Coupe gets more power now

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) announced earlier today that the entry level C-Class Coupe – the C200 Coupe AMG Line – will now come with an upgraded and beefier 2.0-litre 4cyl turbo heart.

Yep, the 1.5-litre 4cyl turbo unit with mild hybrid tech seen prior has been dropped from the local C-Class range entirely.

The treatment is similar to what MBM did recently with the C200 sedan – or ‘Limousine’, as the brand prefers to term it. The new 2.0-litre powertrain boasts 204bhp and 300Nm, as opposed to the 184bhp and 280Nm readouts the previous 1.5-litre unit had.

Drive still goes to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic box, but 0-100kph is now achieved 0.7 seconds quicker in 7.2 seconds. There’s also a slight increase in this coupe’s claimed V-Max figure, which now stands 6kph higher at 245kph.

Powertrain changes aside, MBM were keen to note that the repackaged C200 AMG Line now comes brimmed with a full swing of its Mercedes me connect (Mmc) services on board. Apart from this, little has changed, which isn’t bad news altogether.

As for price, the repackaged C200 AMG Line commands RM336,129.38 with the on-going SST break in affect. Those keen on financing it with MBM’s in-house Agility Financing scheme can do so from as low as RM4,288 monthly.
