Lotus Evija, Pininfarina Battista and Rimac C_Two not do it for you? Getting impatient waiting for news on the Tesla Roadster? Well have we got the all-electric hypercar for you. It’s called the Elation Freedom – because ‘Murica – and it promises a great deal. Whether it delivers on those promises is another matter entirely…

Either way, we’re told that as standard the Freedom will get a 100kWh battery and three electric motors, though you can upgrade to a 120kWh battery and four-motor setup should you wish to do so. Elation says we can expect almost 2,000bhp and up to 400 miles (approx. 644km) of range from the upgraded car, or 1,414bhp from the standard setup. No performance figures have been quoted.

The company touts its connections with the motorsport industry – we’re told the drive system was developed with a company that has designed electric motors for Formula E and KERS systems for F1, and that many of the company’s engineers have “worked in Formula One, at the 24 hours of Le Mans, and several other European racing divisions”.

The Freedom will have two transmissions – a single-speeder for the front-axle and two-speeder for the rear-axle – with “electro-hydraulic torque vectoring systems” and “Formula One-inspired” suspension developed in-house.

We’re told the carbon monocoque chassis “exceeds the safety standards of both the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA)”.

Prices will start at US$2million (approx. RM8.18million). Or if the EV life isn’t for you, weirdly Elation says it will sell you one with a 5.2-litre V10 and dual-clutch gearbox (possibly nicked from the Audi R8) for US$2.3million (approx. RM9.41million).

Thoughts?
