The 2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has been revamped inside and out
Just when you thought the naked bike scene couldn't get more interesting, Suzuki lifted the covers off their latest 2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000. This latest rendition of the Hamamatsu litre naked bike offering gets a significant boost in terms of designs, firepower, as well as electronic riding aids to further elevate its overall package.
Starting with its 999cc inline-four engine, the 2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000 is now Euro5-compliant with 150hp at 11,000rpm on tap (2hp more from the previous-gen, but with a much flatter torque curve). Suzuki was able to achieve this thanks to new intake and exhaust camshafts, redesigned airbox with less intake resistance, as well as a new set of clutch and throttle bodies.
To keep things safe yet exciting, the electronics have been updated with the latest Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), just like the latest Hayabusa and V-Strom. This new package includes a new ride-by-wire throttle management system, selectable traction control, bi-directional quickshifter, Suzuki Clutch Assist System, but sadly, no IMU unit or cornering ABS.
Perhaps looking at the new design might make that forgivable thanks to a host of changes inside and out. Sharper than ever, the 2021 GSX-S1000 now comes with a new set of stacked LED headlights, aggressive body panels, and MotoGP-like aerofairings or winglets to help kick things up a notch in the styling department.
Even the chassis has been revised to ensure that it offers a more optimum riding position with a wider handlebar that has been repositioned closer to the rider, a new seat, enhanced KYB suspension package, Brembo brakes, and a bigger 19-litre fuel tank. The UK market will be selling this beauty starting June at £10,999 a pop (around RM62,700). Will it ever arrive here in Malaysia? Let's see...
