The 2021 Q2 facelift is an alternative entryway to Audi ownership at RM237k

By topgear, 23 June 2021

This is the facelifted Audi Q2. It's now on sale in Malaysia with a few updates, such as a new eight-speed Tiptronic automatic that replaces the outgoing seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission. The new transmission is still paired to the same direct-injected 1.4 TFSI turbocharged four-pot, feeding 150hp and 250Nm of torque to the front wheels.

The setup propels the Q2 from 0-100kph in 8.6 seconds (0.1 seconds slower than the pre-facelift) and tops out at 218kph (6kph higher than the pre-facelift). Claimed fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures are 6.1l/100km and 140g/km respectively, in contrast to the pre-facelift's 5.3l/100km and 122g/km.

The facelift is distinguishable by its new bumpers; the aggressive and larger-looking front side intakes are the dead giveaway. The same treatment extends by a small degree to the rear bumper as well. The eagle-eyed among you would notice the new rectangular central exhaust that replaces the old dual-side exhaust setup. Unlike the outgoing model, the side blade (C-pillar) is now colour-coded with the body.

Standard exterior features include Matrix LED headlamps and LED rear combination lamps with dynamic turn signals, LED daytime running lights with headlamp washer, and five-arm Y-style 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/55 tyres.

On the inside, ambient lighting, auto-dimming frameless rearview mirror, leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, leather/leatherette upholstery and rear passengers USB charging ports are part of the deal. There’s also progressive steering, comfort key, electric tailgate, auto air-cond, foldable rear seats, Audi drive select, Audi virtual cockpit, smartphone interface, 10-speaker 180W sound system, cruise control, auto lights and wipers, and Bluetooth interface.

Safety-wise, there are six airbags, electronic stability control, immobiliser, ISOFIX child seats, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking aid, and brake pad wear indicator as standard.

This CBU import can be yours for RM236,900 (OTR without insurance) including a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, assuming you don’t add on optional extras. Added luxuries such as sports seats, and Bang & Olufsen audio will cost you an additional RM5,096 and RM7,573 respectively. And there's more where that came from. You could easily spec a new Q2 up to RM270k on-the-road, although this may defeat the purpose of it being a relatively accessible way to start your ownership experience with the Ingolstadt brand.

Would you consider the Q2 as your first Audi?
