Suzuki showcases concept supercar called 'Misano'

What happens when Suzuki collaborated with a bunch of Master in Transportation students from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) for a thesis project that portrays everything related to the Hamamatsu manufacturer? You'll get this, one heck of a beautiful concept car with an Italian name - Misano.

Designed as an answer to the question of whether it's possible to combine Japanese philosophy together with automotive, design, passion, style, and Suzuki's effort in both two wheels and four, the Misano was born with a lot of these things in mind.

According to whoever wrote the press release, the Suzuki Misano concept vehicle was "developed to honour the authenticity of the tradition and the application of avant-garde technology, aimed at compact and functional vehicles, and to instil the desire for emotion embodied by the protagonists of the classic Italian motion picture, speeding along in their sporty, elegant convertibles."

So, why Misano? The name was chosen to pay homage to Suzuki's dedication to motorsports and its success, particularly at the Italian circuit. Sporty yet compact, the Misano also combines lifestyle and sportsmanship with the hopes that this design language will invoke the interest of the young audience of the future.

Some of the highlights of the Suzuki Misano concept car are its innovative asymmetric design with two tandem seats, smooth contours from front to back, arrow-shaped headlights, motorcycle-inspired 'control stick' in replacement of the more conventional steering wheel, plus many more. It certainly gives the Aston Martin Speedster a run for its money, eh?
