Subaru showed this at the recent Geneva Motor Show – the Viziv Adrenaline Concept. Subaru is not – what’s the word? Let’s try prone – prone to expand their line-up particularly in this part of the world. Go to a showroom a see how many models that are for sale and you’ll see my point. Not entirely the local rep’s fault but that’s no comfort to buyers who were contemplating a WRX or Forester XT, only to be disenchanted by their (CBU) prices.

In any case, perhaps knowing that they have run out of ways to make existing models interesting, Subaru has pounced on the good ol’ Viziv name. That’s short for ‘Vision for Innovation’ and so far has been the company’s go-to designation to showcase their design studies. Yes, it’s also a palindrom.

So here is a look back to Subaru’s Dynamic X Solid design philosophy we saw in 2016 on the Viziv-7, now evolved to a ‘Bolder’ Design Identity. The body shape of the Viziv Adrenaline exhibits dynamic and strong feel. It features a unique roof design, which reinforces the body structure, as well as body protectors. The white accents going through the wheels to rugged all-terrain tires emphasize the feel like outdoor gears. Using words like ‘off-road driving capability’ does give a strong hint that it’ll have AWD, although that’s not a surprise. So, turbo 2-litre too, then?

There’s no way of knowing if it’ll actually end up as a production vehicle. After all, the Viziv Performance Concept from 2017 is yet to be showroom-bound. However, let’s not forget that the Viziv-7 did evolve into the US-market Ascent. Perhaps, there is hope.
