Someone bought this 1998 Subaru Impreza for RM1.2 million!

US auction site, Bring a Trailer, recently conducted an auction for a very rare and fine-looking 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi. This particular model is the one built to celebrate Subaru's third back-to-back title wins in the FIA World Rally Championship as well as the 40th anniversary where only 400 units were ever produced.

So, when Bring a Trailer got hold of one labelled under the "show or display" category (and exempted from being barred into the US thanks to some ridiculous rule making it illegal to drive cars imported into the US if it's not less than 25 years old), this Impreza 22B STi is as clean as it gets. And when folks got to know about one being auctioned off, wallets went crazy.

The final bid landed at $312,555, which is roughly around RM1.28 million for a 23-year-old car. With only 40,200km on the clock and conditioned better than you can imagine, it's still a ridiculous amount of price to pay. But then again, the Americans must really love this Subaru (again, only 400 were made, and this is #156).

Finished in the ultra iconic World Rally Blue, the 22B STi comes ready with a 2.2-litre EJ22G turbocharged flat-four engine with 280hp, four-wheel-drive, five-speed manual gearbox, electronically locking center differential, 22B-specific bodywork, an adjustable rear wing, 17-inch gold BBS wheels, red STi brake calipers, Bilstein shocks, a serialized plaque, plus many more. Tasty.
