UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) just announced. announced a 'Special Service Campaign' (PR lingo for recall) involving both its Hilux pick-up truck and Fortuner SUV models, specifically those produced and delivered between July 2018 and January 2019.

Based on information relayed by principals Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), this recall exercise aims to inspect and possibly rectify the brake booster assembly in both said models. The condition involves the resin pistons in the brake booster of the subjected vehicles where they could experience compromised braking performance.

As per any recall effort as such, UMWT assures that owners of affected vehicles will have their vehicles rectified at no cost. UMWT have also committed towards reaching out to affected owners, but concerned customers can enquire further by contacting their nearest authorised Toyota service centre or by calling UMWT's customer service hotline 1-800-8-TOYOTA (869682).
