Say hello to the Ford Fiesta ST Edition

By topgear, 05 October 2020

You’ll know by now the Fiesta ST isn’t just one of hot hatches preferred by our British colleagues. It’s one of their favourite cars, period. Which is why we’re rather pleased to bring you news of this new version. Welcome to the Fiesta ST ‘Edition’ - only 300 will land in the UK, all three-doors, with an RRP of £27,075 a pop (RM145k approx.). That’s almost £5k (RM27k) more than the standard car.

Ford says the Edition is for “true performance driving enthusiasts”, so what do you get for your money besides exclusivity? Adjustable coilover suspension from Ford Performance, which lets you play with the ride height (as standard it sits 15mm lower at the front, 10mm at the back) and bump/rebound (ten settings for the former, 16 for the latter).

Meanwhile Ford has fiddled with the steering and fitted special 18-inch alloys to save 2kg of unsprung weight per corner and hide beefier brakes. You also get the normally optional Quaife diff. The company says all the mods add up to the “most rewarding, agile and confident Fiesta driving experience yet”. We’ll be the judge of that, thank you very much.

You don’t get any more power – the ST still runs a three-cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with just shy of 200bhp. 0-100kph takes 6.5 seconds and the top speed is 230kph. But you do get Azura Blue paintwork, high-gloss black trim for the exterior and carbon-fibre trim for the exterior.

To us it all sounds very familiar to last year’s very excellent ST ‘Performance Edition’, only less orange. Not a bad thing, that.
