RON 97 hits RM4/litre, baby!

What goes up, must go up, up, up

The past few weeks, we've slowly seen the fuel prices for RON97 going up bit by bit. Just a month ago, it was sitting at RM3.21 per litre and has been slowly but surely rising. It was RM3.75 last week and some folks are already making noise, but wait until you see this week's figure.

This week (starting tomorrow 17 March 2022), that price will finally hit RM4 for every litre of RON97 and that'll last until 23 March 2022. That's another increase of RM0.25 compared to the previous week, folks. Considering the market prices around the globe, we won't be surprised if this number continues to rise in the coming weeks.

And also, the whole Russia/Ukraine situation is not helping one bit, either. If the global oil prices remain constantly above USD100 for every barrel, the Malaysian government will have no choice but to reconsider its entire fuel subsidy program.

It might hurt us in the short term, but in the long run? Who knows, it might be beneficial for the entire country to grow. With the right mindset and proper management, the billions of Ringgit used for fuel subsidies can be utilised for other crucial industries of the country like healthcare or education.
