Renntech will boost your AMG A45 S to almost 600bhp

The McLaren 600LT produces 592bhp from its twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8. That, friends, is a lot of power. But then again, the fourth car to receive McLaren’s Longtail badging is a bona fide, £185,000 (approx. RM987,275) supercar.

What would you say then, if we told you that a tuning company had managed to extract the same amount of power from a Mercedes-AMG A45 S? Balderdash, you’d cry – if you were raised in Elizabethan times.

Renntech is the company in question, and its 592bhp kit will apparently be available in the coming months. To squeeze that amount of power from the baby Merc’s 2.0-litre four-pot, there’s an ECU tune, a modified turbocharger and new exhaust system. We’d imagine it also requires plenty of faith in the A45’s eight-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive system. The standard A45 S produces a not insignificant 415bhp, of course.

There’s no word on what 592bhp does to the A45 S’s performance figures, although expect the 0-100kph time of 3.9 seconds and the top speed of 269kph to improve – if it can get the power down.

If that’s a bit much for you though, don’t worry. Renntech is also working on upgrade packages that produce 469bhp and 543bhp respectively. Ah yes, far more sensible.
