Renault Captur gets new, more efficient engine

TC Euro Cars (TCEC) has given the Renault Captur an engine improvement with the turbocharged unit now Euro 6 compliant that offers reduced emissions and stop-start engine function. The upgraded TCe 120 mill now makes 205Nm (up from the previous 190Nm) while maintaining power at 120ps. Fuel efficiency is claimed to be 5.9L/100km based on the NEDC cycle.

It’s not just that however because the new Renault Captur also comes with a new 7-inch touchscreen that offers online and offline navigation as well as internet connectivity. It certainly gives it more appeal for the young families and executives that it targets who places importance on connectivity, especially when the infotainment unit can support apps such as Joox and Waze. However, the car’s system needs to be connected to an internet hotspot – such as your smartphone – since the crossover does not come with a built-in sim card.

Also, TCEC has announced the launch of the Renault Captur+ which is a special edition variant. On the outside it boasts a silver/black two-tone front and rear bumper complementing the Captur’s chic dual-tone body colour for an added touch of distinction. Interestingly, this little crossover special edition also comes with a powered tailgate with hands-free function. It gives you the ability to open the tailgate with a simple swipe of the foot underneath the rear bumper, a convenience when you have your hands full.

For a bit of added style, the interior has combination leather seats in maroon with finishing that extends to the door trims. The front and rear door sills feature kick plates emblazoned with ‘Captur’ that helps to protect the lower door section.

Inside, the Captur+ also comes with a driving video recorder (DVR) with 1080p resolution and impact-sensing feature. The DVR comes with a smartphone app too so customers can easily retrieve their videos easily.

The new Captur is priced at RM107,980 and the special edition Captur+ at RM113,300.

A Captur+ (and new Captur) purchase comes with the TCEC 5-in-Captur aftersales service that includes free maintenance and service (parts and labour) for five years or 100,000km, a five-year manufacturer’s warranty with unlimited mileage, and complimentary 24-hours roadside assistance. Here’s something extra convenient – you can have the car picked-up and delivered for scheduled maintenance at Renault service centres, plus mobility service of a replacement car in the event any parts are not available for over 48 hours at authorised service centres (subject to availability).

Oh yes, there’s also an extra benefit of a Captur purchase which makes the buyer eligible for the ongoing ‘French Experience’ sales campaign. So anyone, repeat: anyone, who buys a Captur (or any Renault by TCEC for that matter) gets to go to small French town called Paris. The campaign which started 1 March 2019 has been extended to 30 May 2019.
