Reckon Ford should make a Shelby Mustang Mach-E?

Well, it was going to happen eventually. The internet’s wildly talented digital artists will render most cars with a semblance of production possibility (and plenty without, too), but the Mustang Mach-E feels like a car more susceptible to their attention than any.

Yep, Ford’s electric SUV Mustang certainly caused a stir last year. Morphing a car known for its V8 muscle and dislike of tyre longevity into a peacekeeping EV feels akin to Pete Doherty committing to Dry January.

Those electronic crayon wielders have had a go at appeasing those who might be narked by the new plug-in ‘Stang. It’s X-Tomi Design’s go at a Shelby GT500 version of the Mach-E and… well, we don’t know what to think.

As a design it’s surprisingly cohesive and we reckon they’ve done a sterling job of integrating the styling cues of a 750bhp sports car onto a sensible electric car. But naturally all those intakes seem silly with no engine up front, and we do ponder the sense of Ford evolving the Mach-E into something like this.

So, over to you. Should Ford take inspiration from X-Tomi? Or is the Mach-E best kept as an altruistic side-line while the regular ‘Stang stays naughty?
