If you were to drop by a Petronas petrol station today, you’d very likely notice Petronas Dagangan Berhad’s (PDB) latest fuel – Primax 95 with Pro-Drive. The new formulation promises a smoother drive responsive engine performance and enhanced fuel efficiency – everything we’ve asked for, basically.

This claim comes from three key component in Primax 95 with Pro-Drive which are the Dual Friction Modifier, Double Detergent, and Anti-Corrision chemistry.

Petronas is the first in the world to introduce Dual Friction Modifier which reduces friction by up to 20 per cent when compared to the previous single friction modifier. The decrease in friction within the engine allows for it to run smoother and provide a more responsive throttle. The Double Detergent, as the name may suggest, gives the fuel more cleaning agent to eliminate up to 99 per cent carbon deposits, thus a cleaner engine and better fuel efficiency.

Third is the Anti-Corrosion formula to provide two times better protection for superior engine performance.

Petronas developed Primax 95 with Pro-Drive using their world class research and development facilities including those in Europe and the USA, especially in tandem with the demands required to support Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team win their fifth World Constructors Championship last year in dominant manner. The new fuel meets not only current road engine technology (both indirect injection to direct injection) but also hybrids.

Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin, MD and CEO of Petronas Dagangan Berhad said at the launch, “This new Primax 95 with Pro-Drive is responding to feedback from surveys we conducted that asked for smoother drive, responsive engine performance, and cleaner engine with better fuel efficiency.”

Syed Zainal also mentioned that PDB will give a RM1 rebate for every RM30 of fuel purchase at Petronas stations, valid from 1-3 February.

Well before the launch, the fuel was given a blind test by a large number of drivers in over 200 popular local and international made vehicles. These tests were independently conducted by two third-party agencies. The result from that blind test revealed that over 70 per cent of participants said that the new fuel performed better than their current fuel in terms of smoothness, responsiveness, and efficiency.
