Perodua has already sold over 100k cars this year

Perodua has confirmed that it has already sold more than 100,000 cars this year - a milestone its nearest rivals would likely be thrilled to achieve over a twelve-month period.

By its own count, the national carmaker registered 22,943 deliveries throughout May 2019, bringing its year-to-date total to a whopping 105,743 units - 8.5 percent more than the 97,487 cars sold within the same time frame last year.

That's also more cars than Honda Malaysia managed to sell all of last year (102,282) in the space of just five - yes, FIVE - months. The figure has yet to be officiated by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), but we trust Perodua's bookkeepers to know what they are doing.

The Perodua Aruz launched earlier this year, proved to be an important catalyst for Perodua in terms of sales. 25,000 bookings for the seven-seat compact SUV were received at time of writing, with about 13,000 units being delivered to date.

In light of high festive demand as Hari Raya approaches, Perodua's president and CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad claims that the company has managed to increase Aruz deliveries to about 110 units daily from 100 previously.
